Inspiring Conversations with Sam Garcia of Fit With Life

Hi Sam, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Persistence and hard work! I started my journey as a trainer working at Golds Gym in Austin Texas in 2004. In 2007 I moved to Los Angeles and started teaching group fitness classes. I decided long ago to immerse myself in as many different fitness modalities as I could in order to better serve my clients. I am a big believer in preventative healthcare and prehab which decreases the need for western medicine and helps increase longevity using natural means.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I had to struggle with other pursuits in life to finally see this as my life’s purpose. Like most professions, one of my biggest obstacles was people not believing that I could be so versatile and continually learn new modalities. Being a trainer isn’t easy, and the working hours can be tedious but ultimately, Fit with Life is about everyone, and every “body” has different needs and approaches to fitness. My life’s work is to transcend clients’ barriers in order to create consistency, which in turn will lead to noticeable results both on the physical and mental planes.

We’ve been impressed with Fit With Life, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As the owner and founder of Fit With Life, I am interested in transformation and changing lives. I want to help your son make the football team. I want to give your dad an alternative method to prevent hip surgery. I want to help you make profound changes that will aid you in living your best and most fulfilled lifestyle.

What sets me apart is that I want to find a medium for everyone to find consistency in their training. Part of that is troubleshooting their weaker links. My method involves training, yes, but it also includes the mental and emotional aspects of the human experience. Everyone and everything is connected. Convenience is key.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
A big part of this journey is psychological.

Books:
Nutrient Timing
Strength Training Anatomy
Body Fat Solution
Abs Diet
Flex Presents: Huge
Zone: The Miracle of High-Dosed Fish Oil
Omnivores Dilemma
Gerson Diet
RAW by Juliano
Cooking the Cowboy Way
The Untethered Soul

These books just scratch the surface of the insurmountable mystery that is the human condition.
